APKWS fielding team launches new laser-guided rocket capability for warfighter
An F-16 pilot from the Arizona Air National Guard Air Reserve Test Center fires an Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II integrated M151 warhead during a test mission over the Eglin Air Force Base range in July. The system turns existing Hydra 70 unguided rockets into precision guided munitions through the addition of a laser guidance kit. ARC WEPTAC innovations help modernize legacy aircraft
The Air Reserve Component Weapons and Tactics Council (ARC WEPTAC) was held October 16-20 at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and at the Air National Guard’s 162nd Fighter Wing in Tucson, Arizona. The conference’s theme was “Defend the Homeland - Global Warfighters” which focused attendees on what they need to enhance the capabilities of their weapon systems and meet emerging needs. Major Matthew Clark addressed the audience Friday, October 20, to close the event. At the out brief, 37 representatives from different working groups discussed their findings with senior leadership from the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Command.
