379th Space Range Squadron receives new commander

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. --

 

The 379th Space Range Squadron, 926th Operations Group, 926th Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, received a new commander during an assumption of command ceremony July 14th, 2018.

Col. Todd Tobergte, 926th OG commander, presented the squadron guidon to Lt. Col. Sheila Wilds, signifying her assumption of command as the twenty-sixth commander of the 379th SRS.

“You’re going to write history in the next few years with expansion,” said Tobergte. “[You have a] rich pedigree, with the skills and capability to build relationships and vision.”

After her assumption of command, Wilds addressed her squadron.

“You have built a legacy of excellence,” Wilds said. “I am so proud to be serving as your commander.”

The fifty members of the 379th Space Range Squadron operate the Department of Defense’s only electronic warfare Space Test and Training Range. They provide customers with a safe and secure environment to support space test, training, exercise activities, and space control tactics development.  The unit’s long lineage traces back to 1942 when the 379th Bombardment Squadron was first activated flying B-25J Mitchell medium bombers during World War II.
