  • 47th Fighter Squadron: Laying the Foundation of an Attack Pilot

    At Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, an Air Force Reserve unit exists for the purpose of training and producing A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots for the U.S. Air Force. The 47th Fighter Squadron is part of the 944th Fighter Wing whose mission is to “Forge and Fight” by training fighter pilots across the country, covering four separate fighter aircraft.
  • Reserve Citizen Airmen, Marines complete Tropic Koa ACE

    More than 270 Reserve Citizen Airmen and active-duty members return from the 442d Fighter Wing led exercise Tropic Koa ACE, a three-week joint readiness training held Feb. 11 - March 2 at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. During the three-week exercise, A-10 pilots logged 152 sorties and more than 350 flying hours, resulting in the successful accomplishment of numerous learning objectives and strengthening of crisis-response capabilities in the Pacific region.

    For the third year in a row, maintainers from the 442d Maintenance Group have won the Maintenance Effectiveness Award (Medium Category) at the Major Command level.

    Nearly three decades of flying and 11 combat deployments later, Marks has achieved a milestone that equates to 250 days in the cockpit, which most fighter pilots will never reach and puts him among the highest time fighter pilots in the U.S. Air Force.
