The 307th Security Forces Squadron Reserve Citizen Airmen joined instructors assigned to the 482nd Security Forces Squadron for annual training in combat skills, tactical care and small firearms here April 4-6.

The 307th SFS members took part in the routine, annual training after conducting security at the base’s airshow earlier in the week.

“It’s important to get this training because we’re only at the squadron once a month. It’s good to have that refresher that reminds us of what we’re here to do,” said Senior Airman Amanda Barbee, 307th Security Forces.

During these training sessions Airmen were assessed and given feedback from instructors on defensive and offensive combative techniques.

They participated in virtual M18 small arms scenarios using the Street Smart virtual reality technology. This virtual reality training started with range shooting and advanced into simulated crisis response scenarios designed to test the members reaction to real-world situations.

“It puts into perspective how you will react to certain situations,” said Barbee. “When you have no idea what you could walk into, it helps you prepare for anything.”

Squadron members also attended Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), previously self-aid buddy care.

While all squadron members attended this annual refresher class, 13 noncommissioned officers also gained their instructor certification.

“We’re a family, we make sure we are all on one standard as Security Forces, in regards to how we handle situation and our techniques,” said Tech. Sgt. Demarcus Oguin, 307th Security Forces.

These new instructors will be responsible for certification and refresher training for the entire 307th Bomb Wing.
