This UTA weekend, the 442d Fighter Wing hosted a flag unfurling ceremony for newly-promoted Brig. Gen. Steve Nester, the commander of the 442d Fighter Wing. The general officer flag is used to indicate a general officer's involvement at military events and typically denotes their position of leadership.

Though Nester has spent the majority of his career in the 442d, he served as the A3/A6 Pacific Air Forces Director's mobilization assistant prior to taking on the role of 442 FW Commander. In this role, he worked with different wings and numbered air forces to provide guidance and coordination for all air, cyber, and space activities in the INDOPACOM region.
