HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – The Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee invites all active duty, Guard and Reserve military and family members to join them for the Military Salute Picnic from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 5 at Centennial Park.

This annual event, continually sponsored by TOUMAC, dates back to 2001 and was originally organized is as a welcome home celebration for returning military members who deployed following 9/11.

Master Sgt. Warner Houston, Hill’s Airman Leadership School commandant and planning committee chair said this year’s event provides an opportunity to roll out food and fun for our Airmen and their families.

“I’m inviting everyone out the salute picnic,” he said. “It’s especially good this year to come out and enjoy a good time, considering what everyone has experienced lately, being quarantined and staying inside.”

Food catered by Roosters and Holy Smoke BBQ & Grill will be served from 4-7 p.m.

Featured activities include face painting, inflatables, princesses, pony carousel, exotic animal petting zoo, live entertainment and a mechanical bull.

For Airmen, young and old, there will be an EOD Gauntlet. For more information and to sign up for this challenge, call Staff Sgt. at 801-777-5501.

Houston thanks the members of TOUMAC and other community volunteers for their military support and for providing another great event on Hill AFB, which would not happen with them.

“This annual picnic is a highly anticipated event and we thank all those involved for giving us the opportunity to enjoy these summer activities with our friends and family,” he said. “We feel the support from the community and we appreciate it.”

TOUMAC is a joint committee between the Davis Chamber of Commerce and the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce. They sponsor other events for Hill's military and civilian employees, including military appreciation nights at the Ogden Raptors baseball games and at Weber State University football games.

The committee also sponsors a social to welcome newly assigned military into the community and supports base recognition programs and quality of life programs for the military and their families.
