HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. –
Officials announced this week that the deadline for the 2018 Combined Federal Campaign is now Feb. 8.
The Office of Personnel Management, which oversees the campaign, is giving federal workers more time to contribute due to the partial government shutdown. The CFC was slated to conclude earlier this month.
“Throughout the continuing government shutdown, federal employees around the country have been greatly impacted and are receiving assistance from the vast network of nonprofits they have supported for years,” said Tech. Sgt. Hyun Cho, installation campaign manager.
Hanscom CFC officials have collected more than $96,000 toward Hanscom’s Combined Federal Campaign goal of $140,000.
Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation can visit the CFC Donor Pledge System at www.opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC
to create an account and pledge to the charity or charities of their choice.
“Hanscom employees may choose to deduct a specific amount from each paycheck or give a one-time donation to an organization via credit card or check,” said Cho.
Anyone who chooses the payroll option should either fill out a pledge card or visit the pledge site. The OPM website requires users to create an account by providing a government or personal email address and password. Anyone interested in making a one-time donation will need to fill out a pledge card through a unit CFC representative.
The CFC allows donors to pledge off-duty volunteer time to charitable organizations. To learn more about this option, visit the CFC Donor Pledge System at www.opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC
to search for charities that offer volunteer opportunities through pledge time.
“Hanscom volunteers have pledged more than 120 hours of volunteer time in the community during this year’s campaign,” said Cho.
Hanscom, along with other federal organizations in the region such as the National Park Service and U.S. Postal Service, is part of the CFC of New England. Learn more at https://www.newenglandcfc.org/
