Defenders conduct pre-deployment field training Published Aug. 26, 2017 920th Rescue Wing Public Affairs PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Roughly 60 defenders from the 920th Security Forces Squadron spent a week in the wooded terrain of Patrick Air Force Base's Malabar Annex, Aug. 21-25 conducting a pre-deployment field training exercise. During their week in the field, they practiced squad movements, urban training scenarios and land navigation. “Security Forces Airmen have been training for over six months in a classroom based setting and were looking forward to testing their knowledge in the field at Malabar Annex,” said Tech. Sgt. Roger Drew, exercise lead from the 920th SFS. “This training allowed them to hone their skills before applying these tactics in a deployed environment.” Volunteers throughout the 920th Rescue Wing also assisted with the exercise acting as role players to make the scenarios more realistic.
