Maj. Melissa-Rene Goodwin was just named the Air Force’s Company Grade Officer of 2016 for Air Force Reserve Command. Goodwin was recognized for her significant accomplishments, to include leading the Department of Defense’s busiest lodging operations that support 153 organizations and 19,000 personnel, marshalling the Air Force’s highest Airman Leadership School student throughput, and supporting Air Combat Command’s highest testing program with the flawless administration of more than 9,000 exams, among many other duties.

"I'm not surprised by the recognition being given to Major Goodwin," said Col. Thomas Elmore, 926th Wing Director of Mission Support. "She is one of the finest personnel officers I have ever had the pleasure to work with."

Goodwin recently transitioned from the Regular Air Force's 99th Force Support Squadron here to the Reserve. Now as the 926th Force Support Squadron's operations officer, she oversees the full complement of human resource, communications, services, logistics, and civil engineering operations for the 1,500 members of the 926th Wing and the 555th Red Horse Squadron. Her oversight includes the mission support for six squadrons and one detachment located at six geographically-separated locations. Under her, the wing has increased its full-time work force and stabilized key processes for officer promotions, unit member transfers, and professional school selection.

"She performs as a leader every day," said Elmore. "She fosters an atmosphere of pride, professionalism and performance, and I think we will continue to see great things from her."
