Chief Master Sergeant Elroy Combs Jr. is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for Tenth Air Force, Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, Texas. In this position he is the sole enlisted advisor to the commander and staff for the enlisted force stationed at 30 operating locations. He advises the commander on attitudes, concerns, morale, welfare, readiness and the effective utilization of the more than 12,340 assigned enlisted personnel. He provides guidance to the assigned nine Command Chief Master Sergeants and performs as functional manager for the Command's 262 First Sergeants. He functions as the liaison and spokesperson between the enlisted force and the commander. Additionally, he represents the command's enlisted force at a variety of military and civilian conferences, forums and speaking engagements. Lastly, in this role he serves as the commander's representative to numerous USAF and USAFR committees, councils, boards and military and civilian functions.

Chief Combs enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in June 1988, and reported to the 917th Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La., after graduating from jet engine mechanic apprentice school at Chanute AFB, Ill. He worked as an aircraft maintenance technician on both the A-10 and B-52 until January 1996 when he took a supervisory position as assistant section supervisor on the A-10. While at the 917th Wing, he was also a career advisor and flight chief for the propulsion and accessory flights. Prior to his current position, Chief Combs was the 917th Wing's command chief master sergeant.
