A 10,000 Hour Love Affair

A large crowd gathered behind the 93rd Bomb Squadron to greet U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Steve Smith, 93rd BS flight instructor, after he returned from a mission where he surpassed 10,000 flight hours in the B-52 Stratofortress. Several local media outlets, officials from Boeing and several hundred well-wishers were on hand to witness the historic feat. No current aircrew member in the Air Force has amassed as many hours in the jet in at least 30 years. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Ted Daigle/Released)
