10th AF Power and Vigilance honors go to 442nd FW

This year's winner of 10th Air Force's Power and Vigilance trophy is the 442nd Fighter Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. From left to right, Roger Latham, John Kinnear and Sid Epps, all from the Fort Worth’s Air Power Council, and Col. Hubie Hegtvedt, 442nd Fighter Wing commander, were at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, Texas, for this year’s presentation of The Power and Vigilance Award. This is only the four year this trophy has found a home, the first three winners being 477th Fighter Group, Elmendorf, Alaska, 482nd Fighter Wing, Homestead ARB, Fla., and the 301st Fighter Wing, NAS Fort Worth JRB. The Power and Vigilance Award is presented annually to the Tenth Air Force Air Force Reserve unit that exhibits the NAF mission as "the premier provider of affordable, integrated, flexible, and mission-ready Citizen Airmen to execute power and vigilance missions in support of U.S. National Security. The symbolism of the bronze figure on the award says it all, "grabbing the bull by the horns". (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Julie Briden-Garcia)
