The 920th Force Support Squadron’s programs, ranging from professional and educational training to member and family health and preparedness, support overall mission readiness and enhance the quality of life for Air Force members and families.

“People don't realize how diverse we are in the squadron,” said the 920th FSS commander. “From the minute you join to the minute you retire, we're touching everything that has an impact on your career.”

The Airmen of the 920th FSS, part of the 920th Mission Support Group, ensure that the over 2,000 Airmen assigned to the wing are ready to deploy at a moment’s notice by maintaining training, professional and deployment records, assisting with Family Care Plans, education and more.

“We’re multi-capable Airmen who can handle your pay and your promotion, fitness and lodging, retirement, family care plans, training and testing, cross-training, bonuses, and so much more,” said the commander.

The squadron includes multiple flights that specialize in professional and responsive support for the wing’s 23 subordinate groups and squadrons that include Airman and Family Readiness, Education and Training, Military Personnel, and Sustainment Services.

The flight that most people think of is the Military Personnel Flight. There they receive services such as newcomer orientation and ID cards. They also help with promotions, separations or relocation actions. But, in addition to these services, support for exercises, contingency operations and deployments are given by Installation Personnel Readiness, Force Management works evaluations and awards, and the Wing Career Assistance Advisor handles retention, incentive programs, and reenlistments.

In addition to the MPF, the 920th FSS maintains an Airman and Family Readiness Center which is a one-stop-shop for programs such as the Transition Assistance Program, employment and financial readiness, and deployment support.

Education and career development training for the wing’s Airmen is also managed through the FSS’s Force Development Office. They’re able to answer questions and provide guidance when it comes to any civilian or military educational goal.

“The things we do to help our personnel achieve their military and civilian education, we're helping to build a stronger, more effective Air Force,” said the 920th FSS Education and Training Chief. “We have so many opportunities through the Air Force because we want our personnel to continuously work toward a better way, to meet the very diverse threats that we're facing now. The skills and training we build toward contribute directly to our mission effectiveness.”

Even travel support and health services are facilitated through the FSS through the Sustainment Services Flight. They assist units with drill weekend lodging, coordinating food services, and managing the Wing Fitness Program and fitness testing.

“We're all here to support the mission,” said the commander. “We don’t turn anyone away. We take care of the Airman, their spouse, dependents, retirees, guard, civilians, Space Force, Air Force, active duty, Guard, Reserves; this is how you perform combat support during peacetime.”
