701st Combat Operations Squadron

The 701st Combat Operations Squadron, March Air Reserve Base, California, provides well-trained, experienced air operations center warfighters to support the Korean Theater of Operations in joint and combined exercises during peacetime and real-world operations in time of war. The 701st augments the 607th Air Operations Center, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, as part of the senior decision-making element for the Combined Forces Air Component Commander and integrates seamlessly with active duty forces in command and control of theater combat air forces. The 701st Combat Operations Squadron provides expert personnel in the areas of combat operations, combat plans, intelligence, strategy, communications and logistics. The 701st is assigned to the 610th Air Operations Group, March Air Reserve Base.

Mission Platform
The air operations center weapon system, the AN/USQ-163 "Falconer," is the senior element of the theater air control system that provides the Combined Forces Air Component Commander with the capability to direct and supervise the combat operations of assigned and attached forces and to monitor the actions of both enemy and friendly forces. The air operations center develops strategy and planning documents, monitors the execution of all air, space and information operations and provides combat assessment in support of the combatant commander's guidance and objectives.

Personnel: 156 Authorized including: Traditional Reservists, Air Reserve Technicians, Active Guard and Reserve, Contractors, and DoD Civilians. Unit History
October 1996: The 701st Combat Operations Squadron was activated at March Air Reserve Base, California., and assigned to the 610th Regional Support Group, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas.

May 15, 2000: The 701st Combat Operations Squadron activated Detachment 1 at Hickam Air Force Base in response to a request from the Pacific Air Forces Director of Operations in order to provide high-quality, experienced battle staff support to Headquarters Pacific Air Forces.

July 1, 2009: The unit was assigned to the 940th Operations Group, 940th Wing, Beale Air Force Base, California.

April 29, 2016: The unit was assigned to the 10th Air Force Detachment 1, March Air Reserve Base, California.

Oct, 1 2016: The unit was assigned to the 610th Air Operations Group, March Air Reserve Base, California.
